RSE
Relationship and Sexuality Education (RSE) is s a statutory requirement in the Curriculum for Wales framework and is mandatory for all learners from ages 3 to 16.
The rollout of the Curriculum for Wales framework commenced in September 2022. Within this, schools are now under a legal duty to include Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) in their curriculum. At Pencaerau, RSE has always been an important part of our curriculum and has always been taught sensitively, discretely and within the context of our school values and contexts for learning.
RSE is intended to help children develop healthy relationships and behaviours with their friends and families, based on kindness, empathy and respect. It is intended to keep children safe and to protect their wellbeing. RSE helps children recognise relationships and situations that might put them at risk of harm and how to seek help if needed.
